You’re never too old to keep following your dreams. Not following your dreams will make you old. If you don’t keep moving toward things to make you smile, ideas that engage you, you will jump headlong into that rut of boredom, intellectual and emotional paralysis.
What you dream of may change over your lifetime but having something to look forward to each day is the hope that makes life a joy. Whether your dreams are big or small, isn’t as important as the fact that you have them.
Sometimes we are afraid to go after our dreams or we think we can’t achieve them. So rather than be uncomfortable or embarrassed, we tell ourselves (and others) a story to excuse our joy-killing choice to not dream anymore. It’s like going from full-color 3D movies with surround sound to watching a 6 inch black and white screen; not too enticing.
Whether you decide to start with a really little dream to make it easy and less scary, or if you run full on into the great dream of your life, Do It! Give yourself a story to tell and a dream to dream. It may look a little different than you imagined when it happens, but the fun can be in the journey. And the dream is the hope to fuel a new day. What’s today’s dream?
