September is the Real New Year – You Need New Crayons

I know, I know. You really believe that the new year starts on January 1. Of course, you probably have heard that there are other dates for the new year: the Chinese New Year, the Jewish or Hebrew calendar and others. But what every school kid knows – the New Year starts with school and fall, with fresh crayons and pencils, with September.

I know, many places have messed with the school start dates, even making it near the beginning of August. We all know in our guts – that is entirely wrong. Minnesota still gets it right. They start school the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend. In September. That is the correct date.

So what does all this September, fall and new crayons talk mean to you? It means Fresh Start! You don’t have to wait until everything is grey, dead and frozen! You can start over while the colors are bursting on the trees, the cool air starts to invigorate and you plan ahead for the holidays. See? You already knew in your heart that was the real new year.

So knowing that now is the “right” time to start fresh with clean slates, sharpened pencils and unbroken crayons, you have the perfect reason to start. Start being the you, you’ve been meaning to be. Start that book you’ve been meaning to write. Start that class you’ve been thinking about. Start learning that skill you wish you were good at. Just START!

You can color later. Unless of course that is your Start Project. Then, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!  🙂
