Should you use as much care picking people to share your life with as you do when picking fruit? Have you ever gotten a piece of fruit home and found it was moldy? Or worse, bit into an apple that had a worm in it? At that point you decide it is better to get rid of the moldy and rotting fruit. You know that if you proceed and eat it – you will get sick.
Now if we are wise enough to take care of ourselves when choosing fruit, why do we sometimes choose to keep people in our lives who are bad for us. Same as the fruit, sometimes we don’t see the mold at first. But when we realize it the person is not good for us, it’s time to make a healthy choice.
And some people are obviously not good for us from the start. But we put aside our wisdom and intuition sometimes, only to regret it later. We seem to lose our common sense, ignore the red flags and our gut, valuing others more than our own health.
Today, let’s start by choosing who has gets to be in our life. It is a privilege – not a right. And on the flip side, don’t be moldy fruit in someone else’s life.
Maybe it’s time to be choosier! Pass me a strawberry, please!
